Appendix II: The Words of Christ

From the book of Matthew:

10:32&33 "Everyone therefore who confesses me before men, him I will also confess before my Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies me before men, him I will also deny before my Father who is in heaven."

11:28 "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest." 7:8 "For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened." 21:21&22 "Most certainly I tell you, if you have faith, and don't doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you told this mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea,' it would be done. All things, whatever you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive."

4:7 "Again, it is written, 'You shall not test the Lord, your God.'"

18:4 "Whoever therefore humbles himself as this little child, the same is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven." 19:23&24 "Most certainly I say to you, a rich man will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven with difficulty. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of God." 19:26 "With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

22:37-40 "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the first and great commandment. A second likewise is this, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments."

24:6&7 "You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you aren't troubled, for all this must happen, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be famines, plagues, and earthquakes in various places." 24:24 "For there will arise false christs, and false prophets, and they will show great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the chosen ones." 24:10 "Then many will stumble, and will deliver up one another, and will hate one another." 24:12 "Because iniquity will be multiplied, the love of many will grow cold." 24:14 This Good News of the Kingdom will be preached in the whole world for a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come." 24:36 "But no one knows of that day and hour, not even the angels of heaven, but my Father only."

From the book of Mark:

10:45 "For the Son of Man also came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." 9:31 "The Son of Man is being handed over to the hands of men, and they will kill him; and when he is killed, on the third day he will rise again."

1:15 "The time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God is at hand! Repent, and believe in the Good News." 16:16 "He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who disbelieves will be condemned." 9:37 "Whoever receives one such little child in my name, receives me, and whoever receives me, doesn't receive me, but him who sent me." 2:17 "I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."

3:28&29 "Most certainly I tell you, all sins of the descendants of man will be forgiven, including their blasphemies with which they may blaspheme; but whoever may blaspheme against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin."

10:15 "Most certainly I tell you, whoever will not receive the Kingdom of God like a little child, he will in no way enter into it." 8:38 "For whoever will be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man also will be ashamed of him, when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels."

8:12 "Why does this generation seek a sign? Most certainly I tell you, no sign will be given to this generation."

9:23 "If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes." 11:24 "Therefore I tell you, all things whatever you pray and ask for, believe that you have received them, and you shall have them."

11:25 "Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone; so that your Father, who is in heaven, may also forgive you your transgressions." 14:38 "Watch and pray, that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."

12:29-31 "The greatest is, 'Hear, Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one: you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.' This is the first commandment. The second is like this, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these."

10:6-9 "But from the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female. For this cause a man will leave his father and mother, and will join to his wife, and the two will become one flesh, so that they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate."

5:19 "Go to your house, to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how he had mercy on you."

From the book of Luke:

18:19 "No one is good, except one - God." 24:46&47 "Thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem."

4:4 "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God." 4:8 "You shall worship the Lord your God, and you shall serve him only."

11:9&10 "I tell you, keep asking, and it will be given to you. Keep seeking, and you will find. Keep knocking, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened."

6:27&28 "But I tell you who hear: love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who mistreat you." 6:35-37 "But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing back; and your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High; for he is kind toward the unthankful and evil. Therefore be merciful, even as your Father is also merciful. Don't judge, and you won't be judged. Don't condemn, and you won't be condemned. Set free, and you will be set free."

9:23-25 "If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever will lose his life for my sake, the same will save it. For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses or forfeits his own self?" 9:56 "For the Son of Man didn't come to destroy men's lives, but to save them."

14:13&14 "But when you make a feast, ask the poor, the maimed, the lame, or the blind; and you will be blessed, because they don't have the resources to repay you. For you will be repaid in the resurrection of the righteous."

14:11 "For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted." 12:22&23 "Therefore I tell you, don't be anxious for your life, what you will eat, nor yet for your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing." 12:31 "But seek God's Kingdom, and all these things will be added to you." 12:33 "Sell that which you have, and give gifts to the needy. Make for yourselves purses which don't grow old, a treasure in the heavens that doesn't fail, where no thief approaches, neither moth destroys."

12:40 "Therefore be ready also, for the Son of Man is coming in an hour that you don't expect him."

From the book of John:

3:16-18 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God didn't send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through him. He who believes in him is not judged. He who doesn't believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the one and only Son of God."

3:14&15 "As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life." 14:6 "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."

6:40 "This is the will of the one who sent me, that everyone who sees the Son, and believes in him, should have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day."

5:24 "Most certainly I tell you, he who hears my word, and believes him who sent me, has eternal life, and doesn't come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life."

6:35 "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will not be hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty." 6:51 "I am the living bread which came down out of heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. Yes, the bread which I will give for the life of the world is my flesh." 6:54 "He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day." 6:56 "He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives in me, and I in him."

8:12 "I am the light of the world. He who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life."

20:29 "Because you have seen me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen, and have believed."
