Criminal in Heaven

Luke 23:39 One of the criminals who was hanged insulted him, saying, “If you are the Christ, save yourself and us!” 40 But the other answered, and rebuking him said, “Don’t you even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward for our deeds, but this man has done nothing wrong.” 42 He said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.” 43 Jesus said to him, “Assuredly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”

I believe this is the key message of salvation, illustrated with life example, no parable, could not be clearer than that, and most importantly, it happened right at the end when Jesus was crucified.

At that point of time, most of us, were likely to throw all kinds of blame on God, if not on Christ. Seeing Christ being crucified on the cross (how cruel it was), was the worst fault we could find against God.

This is the exact environment we are in now, i.e. we are likely to see all kinds of fault about God. But then who will be saved? It was illustrated very well right at the time when Jesus was crucified - the criminal who called Jesus as Lord was saved. The criminal was suffering and dying himself, witnessing how "cruel" God did to Jesus, and yet he did not see any fault in God, but instead he saw Jesus as the Lord. This is the kind of soul who can enter into heaven.

Jesus says "no sign will be given to this generation". Confusions are everywhere to "hide" God's existence, and confusions which make us find faults in him. What God wants are consciences who are of equal, if not better than the criminal who was crucified next to Jesus.

Please seriously think about this, imagine you were one of those standing there witnessing the event of Christ's crucifixion. Would you call him Lord?
