The Purpose of Suffering
Why does God allow Satan to cause sufferings in our world? Probably he stops a lot of sufferings but still allows a certain level of sufferings, why? God allows free will, and at the same time he allows consequences to serve his purpose. Since the purpose is so important, I personally believe that it has to do with our salvation. Jesus promises to destroy evil completely, but that would be at the end time, the time when salvation is finally closed to the non-believers. As such, we can assume that he wants more souls to be saved, more souls to enjoy the greatness of heaven he has created for us. Heaven must be so great that it justifies the temporary sufferings on earth. Beside, our earthly life is just a split second compared to eternity. Sufferings do serve other purposes as well, e.g. without a taste of sour, how do we know what sweetness is? Man's salvation and our earthly sufferings are co-related, one possibility is God cannot eliminate evil without destroying our entire world and human kind. Furthermore, Jesus says; "no sign will be given to this generation". Imagine Satan is defeated now, and sufferings are totally eliminated - 'Believe in Christ by faith' is no longer a possibility, and salvation becomes vain for mankind. God wants to give salvation to mankind, so much so that he came to earth to take the worst suffering a human can bear, so that mankind can be saved by believing in Christ. Heaven must be so great that it justifies Christ's crucifixion and our temporary sufferings on earth. Jesus predicted our sufferings, and worse are to come nearing the end time. He teaches us to pray; "Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven". Note this is the second sentence in The Lord's Prayer, and it is infact calling for the defeat of death and sufferings - i.e. salvation and eternal life for mankind. If my theory 'a pre-emptive process to make a perfect heaven' is true, sufferings change our future actions in heaven, sufferings bring us to a state of total submission to God for eternity.
